Uterine fibroids are a common but poorly understood condition affecting 2/3 of women in the UK.  Fibroids can cause significant morbidity, such as painful/heavy periods, recurrent miscarriages and infertility, thus leading to a poor quality of life and social isolation.

As uterine fibroids disproportionally affect women of African and Caribbean backgrounds, this event provides a platform to raise awareness on healthcare disparities and inequalities affecting women and ethnic minorities.
