Homerton College's Anti-Racism Symposium 2026
Tuesday 28 April. 9.30 - 17.15. In the Fellows’ Auditorium and other rooms.
How effectively do higher education institutions recognise racial harm?
How consistent — and how meaningful — are their responses?
And what does real prevention look like in practice?
We know there is still a significant gap between institutional commitments and lived experience.
This student-co-designed symposium confronts that gap directly — moving beyond symbolic action towards practical, durable approaches to anti-racist practice within higher education.
Whether you are seeking to be a more effective ally, have direct experience of racialisation within university spaces, or are involved in shaping policy and student support, this event offers an opportunity to engage critically and constructively with how our institutions can do better.
And if you feel this work is already well embedded — or that you are confident in your own practice — this conversation is especially important to join.
Together, we will explore how universities can genuinely live up to their stated values and embed anti-racism as a shared, everyday institutional responsibility.
